Character Animate takes a character still and a driving video. It is a sensible starting point when you have already chosen how the character and scene should look and want to apply a performance to that image.
The important limitation is scene preservation. Magic Hour's product instructions say the image supplies the background. If you need to keep the original video's surroundings while changing its subject, use Character Replace instead. That decision avoids spending credits on the wrong kind of transformation.
Prepare a clearly visible character and a reference with similar framing. Generate a short section first, then inspect the full movement before committing to a longer clip.

Use the same character image and permitted reference clip in each compatible tool. A useful starter performance is: face forward, raise one hand, turn slightly, lower the hand, return to the starting pose. Keep the character's hands and feet inside the frame if the shot needs them.
