How to add your face to any photo with AI: 5 current tools

How to add your face to any photo

4. Generate a short first attempt. For a photo, run one output before trying a batch. For video or GIF, test a short representative section before spending credits on the full file.

5. Inspect the downloaded result. Zoom in and check facial identity, expression, ears, hairline, glasses, teeth, face boundary, direction of light and any hand or object crossing the face.

6. Publish only with rights and consent. Use source media and likenesses you have permission to use. Do not use a face swap to impersonate, deceive, harass or create non-consensual intimate content. Label synthetic media when the platform, law or context requires it.

Free use is limited to personal, non-commercial work; paid plans add commercial use and watermark-free video or GIF output. Guest uploads and outputs are deleted after one day according to the current product page. For a fair trial, use the same two source images across tools and judge the downloaded photo at full size.

2. Remaker: another browser route with group and batch options

Remaker Face Swap currently offers a single-photo flow that states no signup and no watermark. Its navigation separates single face, multiple faces, batch swap, video and GIF routes, which makes it relevant when one source contains several people or the same replacement must be applied across several photos.

Use the route that matches the job instead of assuming the single-photo allowance applies everywhere. Remaker's current page says uploaded and generated images are deleted within 48 hours; verify the latest privacy and usage terms before uploading sensitive portraits or commercial material.

3. Reface Unboring: templates and consumer edits

Reface Unboring lets a user upload a portrait and choose a photo or video from a device or its catalog. The official page lists support across Android, iOS, Windows and macOS and centers paid Basic and Premium subscriptions with unlimited photo swaps, no watermarks and video restyle.

Choose Reface when browsing template or catalog media is part of the experience. Confirm that the exact source upload, output format and usage right you need are included; a consumer subscription and a commercial production license are not interchangeable.

4. FaceFusion: local, configurable processing

FaceFusion's official GitHub repository supports interactive, headless and batch commands. The project warns that manual installation requires technical skill and points non-terminal users to separate Windows and macOS installers.

Choose a local workflow when configuration, repeatability or keeping source files on your own system is the priority. Local does not remove responsibility: verify the repository, release, installer source, hardware requirements and licenses for the application and every selected model before commercial use.

5. DeepSwap: credit-based hosted photo, GIF and video swaps

DeepSwap's current pricing page documents separate credit units for each format: 0.1 credit per photo, one credit per GIF and one credit for each 15 seconds of face-swap video. Paid access also documents HD processing and a maximum input length of 30 minutes.

Choose DeepSwap when a hosted paid route and longer video support fit the project. Estimate the complete file before upload, then test a short segment containing the hardest turn, obstruction or lighting change. The nominal credit cost does not include rejected attempts or editing time.

How to choose better source photos

• Match the angle: a front-facing replacement is easiest, but a target in strong profile may need a reference with a similar angle.

• Keep facial detail: choose enough resolution to see eyes, teeth and skin edges without enlarging a tiny compressed face.

• Reduce obstruction: hands, microphones, hair, masks and reflective glasses make the boundary harder to reconstruct.

• Match lighting: similar light direction and contrast usually require less cleanup than a bright studio portrait placed into a dark side-lit scene.

• Use the intended expression: an extreme smile, open mouth or squint can expose identity and geometry errors that a neutral portrait hides.

A five-point quality check

• Identity: does the result resemble the replacement person at normal viewing size and when zoomed in?

• Boundary: inspect the forehead, hairline, jaw, ears and neck for seams, blur or color shifts.

• Features: inspect eyes, glasses, nostrils, lips and teeth for duplication, melting or asymmetry.

• Scene consistency: check shadow direction, color temperature, grain and sharpness against the original photo.

• Context: verify that the edit cannot mislead viewers about a real event, endorsement, identity or statement.

Common problems and fixes

The wrong face changed. Confirm the original and replacement upload order. In a group photo, use a multi-face route that lets you map a replacement to the intended person.

The face looks pasted on. Use a reference with a closer angle and lighting direction, reduce heavy filters and choose a target where the face occupies more pixels.

Glasses or hair are distorted. Try a less obstructed replacement portrait. If those elements belong to the original scene, check whether a head or body replacement workflow is actually more appropriate.

A video changes identity between frames. Test a shorter segment containing head turns and occlusions. A still-photo success does not predict stable video output; use a video-specific route and review frame transitions.

Face swap, head swap or body swap?

• Face swap: replace facial identity while preserving most hair, head shape, pose, clothing and background.

• Head swap: replace the broader head area when hair, ears or head shape must come from the new subject.

• Body or character replace: replace more of the person when clothing, body shape or full character identity must change.
