How to body swap a photo with AI (free, step-by-step guide)

Body swap is for replacing one person’s overall appearance in a still image. Use Face Swap when only facial identity should change, Head Swap when the whole head should change but the body and pose should remain, or Multiple Face Swap when several identities must be mapped in one photo. What you need before starting

• Original scene: the still photo whose existing person will be replaced.

• Person photo: a clear, well-lit view of the person who should appear in the scene.

• Permission: the rights to upload both images and consent to use any recognizable person’s likeness.

• A stable comparison: keep the original scene fixed when testing a different person photo, pose or crop.

For the person photo, a straight-on or slight angle usually gives the system more usable facial and body detail. In the original scene, choose a subject who is visible and not heavily covered by hands, hair, objects or deep shadow. Similar camera angle, framing and lighting make the two inputs easier to reconcile.

How to body swap a photo in five steps

1. Open Body Swap

Open Magic Hour Body Swap. The page is for still images and one replacement per generation. The first upload is the original scene; the second is the person to swap in.

2. Upload the original scene

Choose the photo whose existing subject should be replaced. Check that the subject is large enough to inspect and that the body outline is not hidden by a tight crop or foreground object.

3. Upload the person photo

Choose a clear photo of the person who should appear in the scene. If the first result changes identity, hands, clothes or proportions in an unwanted way, use a source with a closer pose, camera angle and crop before repeating the same inputs.

4. Select Swap Bodies

Start the generation and wait for the complete result. Do not judge only the face or a small preview. Review the head-to-body join, hands, clothing boundaries, background, lighting and any object that crosses the subject.

5. Review, download or retry

Download the result only after checking it at full size. If one area fails, change one input variable at a time: a clearer person photo, a closer pose, a less obstructed scene or more similar lighting. Keeping the scene fixed makes it easier to see which change helped.

How to improve a body swap

• Identity looks wrong: use a sharper person photo with a visible face and less filtering.

• Body proportions look wrong: choose a person photo and target scene with more compatible pose and framing.

• A hard edge appears: match lighting and avoid scenes where hair, hands or clothing obscure the body boundary.

• Hands or objects change: use a less obstructed scene or treat the result as a concept that needs manual editing.

• Text or logos distort: restore exact typography and brand marks in an image editor after approving the person and composition.

Body swap, clothes change or image editing?

Free limit, watermark and privacy

Magic Hour’s current Body Swap page states that guests receive three free body swaps per day without an account and that photo outputs have no watermark. Account credits and paid plans are separate. Verify the current quote in the interface before a larger job.

The current product page also states that guest uploads and outputs are automatically deleted after one day and are not used to train models. Do not rely on deletion as a substitute for permission: avoid uploading confidential material or a person’s likeness without authorization.

Commercial use and consent

The current product terms limit free output to personal, non-commercial use and permit commercial use for paid subscribers subject to the active plan and applicable law. Review the current terms before client, advertising or resale use.

A software license does not grant rights to a person’s likeness, a photographer’s image, a brand, costume or location. Obtain the necessary permissions, do not fabricate testimonials or evidence, and disclose a synthetic edit when context could mislead viewers.
