Freeze Now

The bearded man stands still in the snowy forest, arms crossed, smiling naturally. Snowflakes drift gently. Suddenly the ground beneath his boots frosts over — ice crystals spreading outward across the snow in every direction. The freeze climbs upward slowly and inevitably — boots crystallizing first, frost crawling up his black pants fiber by fiber, his jacket stiffening and locking rigid, every crease preserved in translucent ice. As the freeze reaches his chest, he exhales — a long, slow breath of visible cold vapor rising from his mouth, thick and white, curling upward into the freezing air. His last breath. The instant his eyes freeze — a deep warm golden light ignites from within his chest, radiating outward through every layer of translucent ice, amber and gold bleeding through the frozen surface from the inside. The forest behind him darkens to deep blue-black shadow simultaneously. Heavy snow falls thick and fast, blanketing everything. Final frame: a luminous golden ice statue standing alone in the dark silent forest — warm golden light pulsing faintly from within. His smile still there. Perfectly preserved. Slow motion throughout.
